The 50 year old dream of the people of Nuh (Mewat) district of Haryana is now going to come true. The area which till date has not even heard the whistle of a train, will now see trains running on the tracks. The Central Government has approved a new railway line, which will not only change the fortunes of Nuh, but will also be a big gift for millions of people traveling between Delhi and Alwar.
7 new stations from Delhi to Alwar
This new railway line will start from Delhi and reach Alwar in Rajasthan via Sohna, Nuh and Firozpur Jhirka. It will cost Rs 2500 crore to build this 104 kilometer long line and 7 new railway stations will also be built on this route.
In fact, Nuh district is one of the 115 most backward districts of the country selected under the Prime Minister’s Public Development Programme. The aim of the government is to accelerate the pace of development in these districts, and this railway line is a big step taken in this direction.
When separated from Gurugram, but Nuh lagged behind
Nuh, earlier known as Mewat, was carved out of Gurugram to become a new district in 2005. But it was left far behind in the race of development. It is surprising that on one hand, high-speed trains like Vande Bharat and Metro are running in the country, while on the other hand, Nuh, situated just 80 kilometers away from Delhi, did not have a single railway line till date. Now with the approval of this new railway line, the hopes of the people here have gained new wings.
This demand is half a century old
You will be surprised to know that the demand for this railway line is not new, but it was raised for the first time in 1971 by the then MP of Gurgaon. From then till today this demand has been repeated many times. In the last budget, on the recommendation of the Chief Minister, the Modi government gave the green signal to this project and now with the release of the budget, there is an atmosphere of happiness in the Mewat region.
When will the first train run?
This entire project will take about three years to be completed. It is expected that by 2028 This railway line will become fully operational. With the construction of this line, not only will the travel of the people become easier, but development will accelerate in the entire area and new employment opportunities will also be created.
