News India Live, Digital Desk: Very sad and worrying news has emerged for India from the fierce war going on between Russia and Ukraine. According to the latest report filed by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in the Supreme Court, at least 10 Indian citizens have lost their lives in this war so far. After this revelation, there has been a stir in the country and the Supreme Court has sought a response from the Central Government regarding the safe return of the stranded Indians to their homeland.

Shocking revelation of the Ministry of External Affairs

During a hearing in the Supreme Court, the Central Government admitted that many Indian citizens, who were allegedly recruited as ‘auxiliary’ in the Russian Army, are now stuck on the front lines of the war. According to the ministry’s report, 10 Indians have died amidst the horrors of war. The government told the court that it is in constant touch with the Russian authorities so that the bodies can be respectfully brought to India and the survivors can be discharged at the earliest.

Supreme Court showed strictness, gave instructions to the government

Terming the matter as “extremely sensitive”, the bench headed by the Chief Justice asked the Central Government how many Indians are still stranded there and what concrete steps have been taken so far for their return? The court said in a strong tone that the safety of civilians is paramount and the government should ensure that no Indian is pushed into a war zone against his will. The court has directed the Ministry of External Affairs to submit a detailed report on the exact number of stranded Indians and the status of their return by the next hearing.

Tightening the noose on fraudulent recruitment agents

Investigation has also revealed that many Indians were sent to Russia by agents luring them with big earnings and ‘easy jobs’. After reaching there, they were reportedly given military training and put on the battlefield. CBI and other investigating agencies are now conducting nationwide raids against the agents and travel firms who are behind this serious game of human trafficking. The families of the victims have appealed to the government to bring their children back from the clutches of death.
