The AICPI-IW index numbers between January and June 2024 will decide how much dearness allowance the employees will get from July 2024. So far, the numbers for January, February, March, April and May have come. The number for June was to come on July 31, which has not come. In January, the index stood at 138.9 points, due to which the dearness allowance increased to 50.84 percent. After this, the index was 139.2 points in February, 138.9 points in March, 139.4 points in April and 139.9 points in May. On this pattern, the dearness allowance has reached 51.44 percent, 51.95 percent, 52.43 percent in April and 52.91 percent in May.

By how much percent can the dearness allowance increase? According to experts, there can be a 3 percent increase in dearness allowance. If this happens, the dearness allowance of the employees will become 53 percent. There is no possibility of it becoming zero. The score of DA determined by the AICPI index is currently 52.91 percent. According to the current trend, even when the June figures come, it will reach only 53.29 percent. That is, it can be increased from 50 to 53 percent. Dearness allowance is calculated from the AICPI index. The inflation figures collected from various sectors in the index show how much the employee's allowance should increase in comparison to inflation.
When will it be announced?
Dearness allowance has been announced for central employees till the festive season i.e. October. The data for June was actually supposed to come by the end of July but it has been delayed. Only after this will it be decided how much the increase will be. After this, the file will reach the Finance Ministry from the Labor Bureau and then it will get approval from the Cabinet. But, dearness allowance will be approved by September or October. It will be implemented only from July 2024. Payment for the intervening months will be payable.
