Your nose is also getting old! Can this be prevented with ‘Face Yoga’? Know the truth from experts

Do you think that aging affects only your skin, hair or joints? If yes, then you are wrong! Our nose also ages with time – it can bend, widen and even change shape. But imagine, what if you could train your nose like a muscle in the gym?

‘Face Yoga for Nose’ is based on this concept. Many experts and influencers claim that by doing certain exercises, you can keep your nose in shape and prevent it from aging. But how much truth is there in this claim? We found out from the experts.

First of all understand, what is this ‘Face Yoga’?

Face Yoga, as the name suggests, is a facial exercise. This is a natural method, in which special exercises and massage are done to tone the muscles of the face and neck, reduce wrinkles and improve blood circulation in the face. The principle behind it is the same as it applies to the rest of the muscles in our body – exercise strengthens and tones them.

How to do nose yoga? (The How-To)

Some special exercises are suggested for the nose, which include:

  1. Lifting the nose with a finger: Gently lift the tip of the nose upward with your index finger. Now smile and remain in this position for 5-10 seconds. This activates the muscles around the nose.
  2. Inflating the nostrils: Try inflating and contracting your nostrils to strengthen the nasal muscles and improve blood flow.
  3. Massage by pinching: Lightly pinch the bridge of the nose with your fingers and bring it downwards while massaging.
  4. Roller or Gua Sha Massage: Using a face roller or Gua Sha tool, gently massage the top and sides of the nose. It helps in reducing swelling and increasing blood flow.
  5. Circular massage at the base of the nose: Use your fingers to massage in small circles on either side of the nose where it meets the cheeks. It relaxes the muscles and prevents the ‘laugh lines’ from deepening.

The biggest question: Does it really work?

Now coming to the most important question. Can these exercises really prevent the nose from aging? The opinion of cosmetologist Dr. Geeta Grewal on this is very important.

Yes, there is some benefit…
Dr. Grewal believes that massage and exercise can improve blood circulation, make the skin look fresher, reduce inflammation, and may temporarily make the nose look a little more toned.

…but there is also a bitter truth!
She makes it clear that the aging process does not just happen at the skin level, but happens deeper, i.e. at the level of our bones. With age, the bones of our face also become thin and weak. The bones that support the nose also become weak.

“Since this change occurs at the skeletal level, it cannot be corrected by external massage, roller or face yoga,” says Dr. Grewal. In other words, you can keep the skin of your nose healthy with face yoga, but you cannot change the shape of its bone or cartilage (soft bone).

So what to do? (Final Verdict)

Face yoga for nose is a good natural way to keep your skin healthy, reduce inflammation and prevent sagging to some extent. This can give you a fresh and healthy look. But if you want a miraculous change in the shape of your nose, this cannot be a substitute for medical or cosmetic treatment.
