It is said that on this day Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Kuber, the God of wealth, come to earth and the devotees who worship them with devotion, their homes remain prosperous throughout the year. 1. Importance of lighting thirteen lamps: It is considered very auspicious to light 13 lamps on the evening of Dhanteras to please Yamraj and Lord Kuber.
