Post

It has been said in our scriptures that ‘mother’s debt’ is a debt that we cannot repay for many births. We donate Shraddha, Tarpan and Pind for 16 days in the ancestral side to remember our ancestors, but in these 16 days there is a day that is completely dedicated to the women, our mother, grandmother, and other fortunate women of the family.

This very special and passionate day ‘Matru Navami’ Known by the name of

After all, why is the Shraddha of Mother Navami so important?

The ninth day of Pitra Paksha i.e. the ninth day Shraddha is performed only for the late women of the family who have died as a ‘Suhagin’. This day is a day to say thanks to mother, grandmother, grandmother or any woman in the family, who spent her entire life to create and groomed the family.

It is believed that if someone’s mother died on this Navami date, then it is mandatory for them to perform this Shraddha. But even if you do not remember the exact date of the death of a female ancestor of your family, you can still perform Shraddha with full devotion on the day of maternal Navami. By doing this, his soul gets peace and he blesses his family of happiness and prosperity. It is also considered the biggest day to get rid of ‘maternal debt’.

The method of shraddh on maternal Navami is a bit different and very special:

  2. Wake up in the morning and take a bath and wear clean clothes and face the departed female members of your house and offer it with water.
  3. In food, make them and feed them things of their choice. After having food, send them off with respect and offer the ingredients of Suhag (eg Bindi, Bangles, Sindoor) and clothes according to your reverence.
  4. Some parts of Shraddha must also be removed for crows, cows and dogs.

This day is not just a puja or ritual, but it is a day to remember the stones of the foundation of the house, due to which our family is today. On this day, even a small work done with true reverence reaches our ancestors and their blessings always remain on us.
