A big change is being seen in the weather of Jharkhand today. The Meteorological Department has issued ‘Orange Alert’ for many parts of the state, under which it has warned of heavy rain and strong winds in the next few hours. Today’s weather can be quite challenging in various districts of the state including the capital Ranchi. There are clouds in the sky in Ranchi since morning and a drop in temperature has been recorded, due to which people have got some relief from the sultry heat, but the risk of storm and lightning has also increased.
The shadow of danger is looming over these districts
According to the Meteorological Department report, the weather pattern is likely to deteriorate the most in districts like Ranchi, Khunti, Gumla, Simdega, Lohardaga and West Singhbhum. Strong winds at a speed of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour and moderate to heavy rain are expected here. The local administration has appealed to the citizens living in these areas to take special precautions. Especially farmers working in the fields and people living in open spaces have been asked to be alert, because there is every possibility of thunderstorm during this period.
Advice for farmers and common citizens
This warning of rain and storm has brought mixed results for farming. While on one hand crops are expected to benefit from this water, on the other hand there is a possibility of damage to horticulture and kutcha houses due to the strong storm. Jharkhand Meteorological Center has put all district disaster management departments on alert mode for the next 24 hours. Officials of Ranchi Meteorological Center have clarified that the problem of waterlogging and traffic jams may also arise in the areas under orange alert, hence avoid unnecessary travel and take shelter in safe pucca houses.
How will the weather be in the next 48 hours?
After this change in Ranchi and surrounding areas, monsoon like activity is being seen all over Jharkhand. The sky will remain densely cloudy for the next two days and intermittent rain will continue in different parts of the state. A drop of 3 to 5 degrees Celsius can be recorded in the temperature, which will provide relief, but due to increase in humidity, caution is necessary. The Meteorological Department has also warned tourists not to go towards waterfalls and hilly areas, as there is a danger of sudden rise in water level.
