Why is SIR campaign important?
SIR campaign is primarily a systematic effort to update the voter list. As per the instructions of the Election Commission, this campaign is conducted every year so that new young voters can get their names added and those whose details are incorrect can get them corrected. Chief Minister Hemant Soren said that an informed voter is the foundation of a strong democracy. He clarified that the verification of voter list is not just a legal formality but it is the right of every citizen to vote in the upcoming elections to elect the government of their choice.
