Chhindwara, January 02: “Devgarh is a naturally very rich village and has immense tourism potential. The villagers will have to unite and promote tourism, which will strengthen the economy of the village. All home stay operators should take special care of cleanliness and provide better facilities to the tourists, so that Devgarh gets fame in the country and abroad.”
Chhindwara Collector Harendra Narayan expressed these views on the closing occasion of Devgarh Mahotsav on Friday. Devgarh Mahotsav was organized with the joint efforts of District Administration, Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board and Jai Bhavani Tourism Development Committee. On the closing occasion on Friday, the home stay in tourism village Devgarh was inaugurated by Collector Narayan. With this, now all the 12 home stays of Devgarh are open for tourists.
More than 10 thousand tourists participated
The first Devgarh Mahotsav, which ran for three days to promote rural tourism, received an overwhelming response from tourists. More than 10 thousand tourists participated in three days. Here tourists were engaged with traditional and local sports. Kite flying, bullock cart riding, gilli-danda, pittu, chair race and other games enthralled the tourists.
Tourists liked Kulhad tea, collector took a sip, shops did well-
In the Devgarh Mahotsav, which was made completely plastic free, tea was served to the tourists in Kulhar. The tourists looked quite happy while drinking Kulhar tea in the forest. Collector Narayan was informed about the Kulhad tea planted by the girls of Devgarh, which he appreciated and encouraged the girls by drinking the tea made by their hands. All the stalls set up by the committee were seen buzzing with the hustle and bustle of tourists and the faces of the villagers lit up as they earned thousands of rupees in income in three days.
