Amidst the NEET paper leak controversy that created an uproar across the country and the violent protests that followed, a big relief news has come to light for the agitating students and youth. The governments of Bihar and Assam have issued an official order to unconditionally release the protesting students who took to the streets demanding cancellation of NEET exam and comprehensive reforms in the education system and withdrawal of all cases registered against them. However, amid all this, no clear or official order has yet come out from the West Bengal government regarding the release of the detained students, due to which the problems of the students there and their families still persist.
Important meeting held at midnight and government assurance
This major administrative change has been seen after high level meetings and talks held at midnight. Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) spokesperson Saurav Das released a video message on social media and informed that right after an important press conference, he had a long meeting with government representatives, which lasted for about two to three hours. In this meeting, copies of the official notifications of Bihar and Assam were handed over by the government, in which full guarantee has been given to completely cancel the FIR registered against the students, not to take any punitive action in future and to release all the detained people with immediate effect. Along with this, other NDA ruled states and the Central Government have also assured to issue such orders soon.
Big step by Bihar government and action against policeman in Siwan
Taking a big step in the interest of students, the Home Department of Bihar has directed to withdraw all the cases registered till 6 pm on 26th July with immediate effect. The government has also made it clear that no retaliatory legal action will be taken against these protesters, which will provide direct relief to the hundreds of students and minors detained during the July 25 Bihar bandh. It is noteworthy that during this movement, a police constable, who used modern weapons like AK-47 without orders from higher officials to control the angry crowd in Siwan district of Bihar, has been suspended on charges of negligence.

Senior advocate and politician Kapil Sibal has announced a huge ‘Legal Fund’ of Rs 1 crore to provide legal protection to students across the country who have been victims of police and administrative action. On the other hand, ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ (CJP), which is leading this student movement at Jantar Mantar, has launched a special online evidence-gathering platform to collect evidence of the police action. The CJP has bluntly warned that if despite assurances the fake cases filed against students in other parts of the country are not withdrawn, they will once again be forced to launch a vigorous nationwide agitation.
