News India Live, Digital Desk: Jharkhand was made a separate state to protect the water, forests and land of the tribals. But one law was missing for years. PESA ActBut now the waiting hours are over, The state government has implemented the rules of PESA law,

This news is no less than a festival for every person living in the village. Till now you used to make rounds of BDO, CO and Police Station for small permissions, but now this power rests with your village. gram sabha Has come near.

What will change in your life? (Understand in simple words)

The biggest objective of the PESA law is to strengthen the Gram Sabha. Know here which rights you have got:

1. No one can snatch the land
The biggest fear was of going to the ground. Under the PESA Act, no one (be it the government or a private company) can acquire your land in scheduled areas without the consent of the Gram Sabha. If any land has been grabbed, the Gram Sabha will also have the power to get it back.

2. Settlement of small disputes in the village
Now there is no need to go to the police station. Small village disputes, family fights or social issues will no longer be dragged into the courts. The Gram Sabha will decide these in the village itself in the traditional manner. This will save both time and money.

3. Rights on sand and minerals
Who will take out sand from the village river? Who will sell forest produce (like Mahua, Kendu leaves)? Till now its contract was decided from above. But now the management of sand ghats and minor forest minerals will be done by the Gram Sabha itself. Meaning, the village’s money will remain in the village.

4. Liquor prohibition or shop? the decision is yours
Whether a liquor shop will open in the village or not will no longer be decided by the Excise Department, but by the women and elders (Gram Sabha) of your village. If the assembly wants, it can completely ban liquor in the village. This is a big weapon to create a drug free society.

5. Police will also have to give information
If an FIR is registered against any person in the village, the police will have to inform the Gram Sabha. This rule will prove to be very helpful in stopping the arbitrariness of the police.

Why is this a big deal?
Friends, Gandhiji used to say that the soul of India resides in the villages. The PESA Act makes that dream come true. It has brought democracy out of Ranchi (the capital) to the forests of remote villages.

Now it is the responsibility of the villagers to understand these rights, participate in Gram Sabha meetings and raise their voice for their rights.
