Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) for the future administrative officers of the country appearing in the Civil Services Preliminary Examination-2026 to be conducted by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has taken a very strong and commendable step. Delhi Metro has made special changes in its operational arrangements to ensure that the candidates do not face any mental or traffic problems in reaching their examination centers on the day of this important examination to be held on this Sunday (24 May 2026). The metro administration has announced that this Sunday, services on some select and main metro lines will start one hour earlier than their normal time.
DMRC informed about this decision by sharing a strong post on its official social media platform ‘X’ (earlier Twitter). According to senior officials of the Metro administration, this decision has been taken completely keeping in mind the convenience and time saving of thousands of candidates appearing for the UPSC Prelims exam and their parents.
Metro trains will run from 6 am this Sunday
Usually on Sundays, due to less number of passengers on the Delhi Metro network, services are started from 7 am. But this time under special arrangement on Sunday, 24 May 2026 Metro trains on the respective lines one hour before their scheduled time, i.e. Will start running on the track from 6 in the morning. This will greatly help the candidates coming from far-flung areas to reach their centers much before the reporting time.
There has been a change in the timings of only these 3 main metro lines
Delhi Metro administration has clarified that this special rule of starting the service at 6 am will be implemented only on three strategic metro lines, the details of which are as follows:
-
Pink Line (Line 7): This route will cover passengers from Majlis Park to Shiv Vihar.
-
Magenta Line (Line 8): This line will include the sections from Krishna Park Extension to Botanical Garden and Deepali Chowk to Majlis Park.
-
Gray line (line 9): This route will be live from 6 am for the candidates going from Dhansa bus stand to Dwarka.
Train will be available every 15 minutes in the first hour
Giving information about the frequency, DMRC said that metro services on these three lines will operate between 6 am to 7 am. 15-15 minute intervals (Frequency). After this, i.e. after 7 am, the entire metro system will operate smoothly as per its normal and scheduled time table for Sunday.
Important clarifications: DMRC has clarified that apart from these three lines (Pink, Magenta and Grey), services on all other lines of Delhi Metro network (like Yellow, Blue, Red, Violet and Airport Express Line) will open as per the normal time table on Sunday. That means no change has been made in the time there.
