News India Live, Digital Desk: Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Council (UPMSP) has shared a very good news for the students amidst the high school (10th) and intermediate (12th) board examinations. The board this year especially Mathematics And Science For evaluation of answer sheets of difficult subjects like ‘Step Marking’ Strict order has been issued. This means that now even if your last answer is wrong, you will not lose full marks.
What is step marking and how will it be beneficial?
Often students used to leave difficult questions due to the fear that if the answer was wrong then their hard work would go in vain. But now under the new system:
Half correct, half points: If you have written half of the question or the correct formula, you will definitely get the prescribed marks.
Even numbers on leveling: In science subjects, if the student has drawn the correct diagram or done the correct labeling, then even if his theory is less, he will get the benefit of marks.
No zero only on last mistake: Now evaluators will not be able to give full zero (0) only if the last answer is wrong. They have to give numbers for each correct step.
Board’s 3 strict instructions for evaluation
UP Board Secretary Bhagwati Singh has issued guidelines for all evaluation centres:
Marking Scheme to be followed: The examiners will be given a ‘marking scheme’, in which it will be clear how many marks are to be given for which step or formula.
Examining the page on the left: Often students do rough work or some important steps on the page on the left. There are orders that those pages should also be examined carefully.
Liberal stance: Apart from language subjects, in other subjects (like mathematics, science) it has been asked not to deduct marks on spelling or small linguistic mistakes and to be lenient.
When will the scrutiny of copies start?
UP Board examinations are ending on 12 March 2026. soon afterward 18 March 2026 The work of evaluation of copies will start at 249 centers across the state. The board plans to declare the results by the end of April by direct entry of marks on the digital portal.
