The process of unseasonal rains and thunderstorms continues in Bihar. The first red alert of this year was issued in the state on Thursday, under which several districts were warned of thunderstorms, rains and hailstorms. On Friday, the Meteorological Department has issued Orange and Yellow alerts for heavy rains and strong winds. It is estimated that this bad weather will remain in most parts of the state for the next few days.
In which districts alert released?
The Meteorological Department has warned of strong winds (50–60 km/h), thunderstorms and heavy rains in 25 districts during the next 24 hours. These districts include:
East Champaran, West Champaran, Vaishali, Samastipur, Darbhanga, Madhubani, Madhepura, Gopalganj, Siwan, Saran, Sitamarhi, Shivhar, Muzaffarpur, Kishanganj, Purnia, Katihar, Bhagalpur, Banka, Saharsa, Khagaria, Araria, Jamui and Munger.
Apart from this, Yellow alert has been issued in 13 districts, where winds are likely to move at a speed of 30–40 km/h. These districts are: Gaya, Jehanabad, Patna, Bhojpur, Arwal, Buxar, Nawada, Sheikhpura, Kaimur, Rohtas, Aurangabad, Begusarai and Nalanda.
Damage due to storm and rain
Late Thursday night, strong winds and rains in several districts including Vaishali, Muzaffarpur and Bhagalpur made widespread impact. Trees and electric poles fell in many places, affecting life. The crops of farmers suffered heavy damage due to hailstorm in Muzaffarpur and surrounding areas.
When will you get relief?
The Meteorological Department estimates that the rain may decrease slightly after April 19 and 20, but on April 21 and 22, the light to moderate rains may continue in North-East Bihar.
The weather is likely to be completely clear from 23 AprilAfter which the temperature can increase rapidly and the effect of heat will increase.
