The application process for the University Grants Commission’s National Eligibility Test (UGC NET June 2026) conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) has reached its final stage. Last date to fill online form for UGC NET June session i.e. tomorrow 20 May 2026 Is. Interested and eligible candidates who have not yet registered themselves can apply immediately by visiting the official website of NTA at ugcnet.nta.ac.in without wasting time.
Meanwhile, NTA has given a huge relief to lakhs of candidates who do not have Aadhaar card available or have any discrepancy in their Aadhaar data. The agency has clarified that having Aadhar card is not mandatory for UGC NET registration. Candidates can also successfully submit their application using other alternative government identification documents.
How to apply without Aadhar card, NTA issued special guide
Along with removing the requirement of Aadhaar card, NTA has also issued a detailed guideline so that the candidates do not face any technical problem while filling the form. Candidates can verify their identity by choosing PAN Card, Passport, Voter ID, Ration Card or any other valid government photo identity card in place of Aadhaar. Along with this, NTA has strongly warned the candidates that a candidate is allowed to fill only one application form. If a candidate fills more than one application form fraudulently or by mistake, only his/her last application will be considered valid by the system, while all the other old applications will be automatically cancelled.

UGC NET from June 2026 session is going to be a very important and big change for the higher education world. NTA conducts this national examination twice a year (June and December) to set the standards of eligibility in central and state level universities and other prestigious higher education institutions across the country. The main objective of this examination is to provide eligibility to the candidates on the basis of their performance in the following three specific categories:

type 1: Eligibility for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and direct appointment to Assistant Professor.

Category-2: Eligibility for appointment as Assistant Professor and direct admission to Ph.D. in various universities.

grade 3: Eligibility for admission to Ph.D. program only as direct entry without NET-JRF.
New pattern and marking scheme of examination; There will be no negative marking

NTA has issued a special advisory to the candidates asking them to check their entire application form at least twice carefully before submitting the online examination fee. Corrections in key credentials will not be allowed once final submission is made. Candidates should especially check the spelling of their name, mother and father’s name, social category (SC/ST/OBC/EWS), disability status (PwD Status), physical disability status, requirement of scribe, main subject chosen for the examination and the exam city chosen so that there is no discrepancy while generating the admit card in future.
