News India Live, Digital Desk: Donald Trump is known to express his views without any hesitation, but this time he has directly targeted America’s biggest court i.e. the ‘Supreme Court’. The matter is related to the ‘tariff’ (tax) which Trump is adamant on imposing on foreign goods. Trump has clearly said that if the Supreme Court gives any order against his decision, “America will be completely screwed.”

What is all this fuss?
Let us understand this in simple language. Trump wants heavy taxes to be imposed on goods coming from countries like Mexico, Canada and China. His argument is that only when foreign goods become expensive, America’s own companies will grow and the country’s money will stay in the country. But the legal issue here is whether a President can impose such a heavy tax on his own will?

Why did you warn the Supreme Court?
In fact, many experts and companies believe that Trump’s decision is against the rules and this will lead to inflation in America reaching its peak. Due to this issue, this matter can reach the court. Expressing his displeasure over this, Trump said that if the court intervenes, it will be difficult for the country’s economy to survive. What he means is simple—he needs a ‘free hand’ for the good of the country, and any restriction can destroy America.

On whom will the blame fall?
Trump currently has his sights set on three countries in particular – Canada, Mexico and China. He has already indicated that he may increase the tax on goods coming from these countries by 25%. Trump believes that these countries are taking advantage of America and are behind problems ranging from drugs to infiltration. For them, ‘tariff’ is not just a tax, but also a weapon to force other countries to the negotiating table.

Is this an attempt to scare?
If seen from the perspective of a common man, this statement of Trump may seem like directly putting pressure on the judiciary. There has been a debate in America about the distribution of powers as to who will run the country – the President elected by the people or the court that protects the Constitution?

Now all eyes are on the Supreme Court to see whether it will interfere in these tough economic decisions of Trump, or whether Trump’s ‘tariff war’ will get the green signal. Well, it is certain that if these taxes are implemented, their echoes will definitely be heard in the markets across the world.
