News India Live, Digital Desk: Local media said on Tuesday that one person was killed and several others were injured in a mass firing in Lawrence Heights area of Toronto. The incident took place in North York district, after which law enforcement and emergency services immediately took action.
Toronto Police has confirmed That at least five persons were rushed to the hospital due to being injured by being shot, although their situation has been described as “no threat to life”.
Expressing concern over the incident, Toronto’s Mayor Olivia Chow said on social media, “I am upset with the news of the firing in Lawrence Heights area this evening. My office is in touch with the Toronto police, who is currently on the spot and is investigating, and the local councilor is in touch with Deputy Mayor Mike Kole.”
He appreciated the efforts of the emergency employees, saying, “I want to thank the first reactions – Toronto Police, Firefight and Paramedic services for your work in a very busy and challenging situation. Toronto Police is working to update soon.”
