Kharna Prasad will be consumed after sunset this evening. According to religious beliefs, Kharna Prasad should be taken in solitude and there should be complete peace in the house at that time. ‘Rasiya’ (kheer) made of cow’s milk and jaggery and wheat bread are offered as Prasad. After consuming this Prasad, the fasting person gives up food and water for the next 36 hours. Surya Arghya 2026: When is Arghya offered to the setting and rising sun?
There is a lot of enthusiasm among the devotees regarding the dates of ‘Arghya’, the most important stage of Chhath Mahaparva. The main dates according to the Panchang are as follows:
Sandhya Arghya (Arghya to the setting sun): Tomorrow, 24 March 2024 In the evening the first Arghya will be offered to the setting sun. The devotees will reach the ghats of rivers and ponds and worship Chhathi Maiya.
Usha Arghya (offering to the rising sun): day after tomorrow, 25 March 2024 This four-day long festival will conclude with the offering of Arghya to the rising sun in the morning.
Strict rules and precautions for Chhath fast
The fast of Chaiti Chhath is considered very strict in following the rules. From the day of Kharna onwards, the fasting people sleep on the ground and completely follow Satvikta. Special care is taken to clean the fruits, soup and daura used in puja. The importance of Chaiti Chhath is even greater because it gives the message of disciplining the body and mind at the beginning of the scorching summer.
