Importance of Sankashti Chaturthi: Why is it called ‘Sankatnashan’?
‘Sankashti’ means one who overcomes troubles. It is believed that on this day Lord Shiva had blessed Lord Ganesha to be the best among all the gods. Specially on Sankashti Chaturthi Sankat Nashan Ganesh Stotram By reciting it, the spoiled work starts getting done and one gets relief from financial crisis.

The fast of Sankashti Chaturthi is considered incomplete without seeing the moon. The fast will be broken only after moonrise this evening.

Worship Method: Bappa will be pleased like this
Bath and resolution: Wake up early in the morning, take bath and wear clean clothes. After this, take a pledge to fast with water in your hand.
Kalash installation: Install the idol or picture of Lord Ganesha at the place of worship.
Bhog and Durva: Offer his favorite modak, laddu and 21 durva (grass) to Bappa. Apply tilak with red vermillion.
Mantra and text: Chant the mantra ‘Om Gan Ganpataye Namah’ and recite Sankatnashan Ganesh Stotra.
Moon Darshan: Offer Arghya in the evening when the moon rises and then break the fast.

What not to do today?
