Thousands of years old sacred relics reach Bhutan, know what is this deep relationship between Lord Buddha and Stupas

News India Live, Digital Desk: Imagine, something that was touched by Lord Buddha himself thousands of years ago is still present among us. This is not a story, but the truth. India has sent some of the holy relics of its most precious guest, i.e. Lord Buddha, to Bhutan, so that the people there can also have darshan of them. This news is not just between two countries, but it is a very beautiful union of faith and history.

What are these holy relics?

When Lord Buddha left his body (which is called Mahaparinirvana), after his last rites, some parts of his body like teeth, hair and bones were preserved by his disciples. These parts are called “Sacred Relics”. These are not just relics, but for the followers of Buddhism, they are a realization of the presence of Lord Buddha himself. Their energy is considered so sacred that people come from far and wide to see them.

Then why were stupas built?

After the departure of Lord Buddha, the question was how to preserve these sacred relics and how could the common people connect with them? Then Emperor Ashoka did a very unique thing. They sent these holy relics to different parts of the country and built a special kind of round building over them, which is called “Stupa”.

The shape of the stupa resembles a calm sitting Buddha. It is not just a building, but a symbol of peace, knowledge and purity. Inside it, the remains of Lord Buddha were kept with great respect. Therefore, whenever a person visits or circumambulates the stupa, it is believed that he is directly connecting with the sacred energy of Lord Buddha. In simple words, stupas are those sacred houses where Lord Buddha still resides.

These relics taken from India to Bhutan are a very deep symbol of friendship and trust. It shows how the Buddha’s teachings of peace and love still connect countries today.
