The thing to note is that India imports about 90 percent of its oil and gas needs through this sea route. Due to the closure of this waterway due to the war, many merchant ships coming to India got stuck midway, due to which there was a great concern about fuel supply. In this difficult situation, Russia has openly opened its treasures to India.

The statement said that Russian energy companies have immense potential to continuously increase the supply of oil and Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) to meet the huge demand of the Indian market. Apart from this, Manturov also clarified that Russia has significantly increased the supply of high-demand mineral fertilizers to India by 40 percent by the end of 2025. Both the countries are also working rapidly on a joint project for carbide production.
