News India Live, Digital Desk: There is such a miraculous place on the banks of Hingol River in the troubled Balochistan province of Pakistan, which is the center of faith of crores of Hindus beyond the borders of India and Pakistan. We are talking about ‘Hinglaj Mata Temple’, which is considered the most important among the 51 Shaktipeeths. This cave temple situated amidst the desert hills is not only sacred for Hindus, but local Muslims also give it immense respect by calling it ‘Nani Pir’ or ‘Nani Ka Haj’.

Glorious history is associated with the parts of Sati

According to mythology, when Lord Vishnu cut the mortal remains of Mata Sati with his Chakra to break the spell of Shiva, the ‘Brahmarandhra’ (upper part of the head) of Mata had fallen at this place. This is the reason why Hinglaj Shaktipeeth is considered extremely powerful and fruitful. Despite being located amidst inaccessible roads and desert, the spiritual energy here attracts devotees.

When Lord Ram took bath here after killing Ravana

Hinglaj Mata Temple is not only related to Satyayuga but also to Tretayuga. According to beliefs, after killing Ravana, Maryada Purushottam Lord Shri Ram also took refuge in Hinglaj Mata to get freedom from the crime of Brahmahatya. He had darshan in the ‘Chandrakup’ mud volcano here and worshiped the Mother Goddess. Even today devotees follow the same traditions during their journey.

‘Nani’s Hajj’: A unique example of communal harmony

Despite the bitterness of partition, Hinglaj Mata Temple remains a symbol of communal unity. Local Baloch Muslims protect this temple and consider it a part of their culture. For them it is the place of ‘Mother Nani’. During the ‘Hinglaj Yatra’ held every year, people of the Muslim community actively participate in the service of Hindu pilgrims, which gives a message of peace to the whole world.

Difficult path and difficult test of faith

Visiting Hinglaj Mata is no less than a difficult test. To reach this temple, located about 250 kilometers from Karachi, one has to pass through rough roads and dry mountains. There is no man-made idol of the Mother Goddess inside the cave, but there is a small boulder which is painted with vermilion. Devotees worship the mother in this form. It is said that whoever makes a wish here with a true heart, Hinglaj Bhavani never leaves his bag empty.
