Acharya Chanakya, a great expert of true diplomacy, economics and practical life, has told many such esoteric things in his famous work ‘Chanakya Niti’, which is completely accurate even in today’s modern era. Chanakya believed that a person’s success and his mental peace depend most on the people with whom he lives. If there are wrong or selfish people around you, your progress will definitely stop. In today’s good thoughts, we will understand the meaning and practical importance of two such famous verses of Acharya Chanakya, which help us show the right direction in life and save us from troubles.
Verse 1: Wisdom lies in abandoning these 4 things and people
Tyajeddharma Dayahinaam Vidyaahinaam Guru Tyajeta. त्याजेतक्रोधमुहिं भार्यान्निः स्नेहानबंधवांस्त्याजेट॥
Meaning and Explanation: Through this verse, Acharya Chanakya has advised to immediately distance yourself from four things in life:
-
Religion without mercy: According to Chanakya, it is better to leave any religion or ideology which does not have compassion, kindness and humanity. If a person shows himself to be very religious but his behavior is cruel towards others, then such ostentatious religion is of no use.
-
Uneducated Guru: It is completely useless to take education from a teacher or guru who does not have correct and complete knowledge of his subject. He who himself is in the darkness of ignorance can never guide anyone else properly.
-
Extremely angry spouse: The happiness and prosperity of the home depends on mutual love and understanding. If the nature of the spouse is to get extremely angry on every small thing, then the peace of the house gets disturbed. Chanakya says that first one should try to improve the situation, but if there is no change in the nature then it becomes necessary to take a tough decision keeping in mind the future.
-
Unloving and selfish relatives: Those relatives who relate to you only for their own selfish reasons are the most dangerous. In times of trouble, such people may leave you and also take advantage of you. Therefore, it is wise to keep distance from them in time.
Verse 2: Due to these habits and circumstances the body ages quickly.
Adhva jara manushanaam vaginaam bandhanam jara. Amathuṇḍam Jāraa Streeṇaṁ Vastraanamatapaṇa Jāra.
Meaning and Explanation: In this verse, Acharya Chanakya has mentioned the reasons and circumstances due to which human body and objects lose their strength prematurely:
-
Excessive traveling and hard work: A person who works harder than his physical capacity and is constantly busy in tiring journeys, his daily routine becomes unbalanced. Due to lack of proper rest his body starts becoming weak and aging quickly.
-
Unsatisfactory married life: According to Chanakya Niti, a woman who does not get love, respect, satisfaction and happiness in her married life, constantly struggles with mental stress. This mental depression pushes him towards premature old age.
-
Horse bondage: Giving the example of animals, Chanakya has said that a horse which is always kept tied and is not given freedom to run, loses its agility and grows old quickly. Similarly, humans should not keep their talents tied up.
-
Sun clothes: Just as clothes continuously exposed to strong sunlight cause their color to fade and become weak and torn, similarly unbalanced conditions reduce the lifespan of everything.
