News India Live, Digital Desk: If you too have passed D.Pharma and were worried about your registration and career only because of the ‘Exit Exam’, then be happy. The Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) has heard the call of the students and has taken a decision that has brought a smile on the faces of thousands of students.
Yes, according to the latest update, PCI has opened the way for registration for students who have passed D.Pharma and has sidelined the requirement of ‘exit exam’ for the time being.
What was the issue after all?
In fact, the story was such that PCI had made a rule—any student who passes in the 2022-23 session or later will get the license of ‘Pharmacist’ only if he passes the ‘exit exam’. Without this exam, you could not be registered with the State Pharmacy Council.
The problem was that the person who was given the responsibility of conducting the examination (NBEMS), was continuously delaying in conducting the examination. The result was that thousands of children were sitting with degrees in their hands, but due to lack of license, they were neither able to open medical stores nor get jobs. The anger of the students was increasing.
What has changed now?
PCI has issued a circular ordering all State Pharmacy Councils not to stop the registration of students merely because they have not given the exit exam.
To put it simply-If you have passed D.Pharma in 2022-23 batch, then now you can directly go to the council of your state and get registered. You do not need to wait for the exit exam. This is no less than a lifesaver for those students whose year was getting wasted.
Has the exam been postponed forever?
There is a need to be a little careful here. PCI has given this relaxation because there was a delay in conducting the exam. It may be made mandatory again for future batches or its rules may be changed. There is also discussion going on that instead of 3 papers in the exit exam, perhaps only 1 paper may be reduced so that the burden can be reduced.
But for now, this is something to celebrate! If you fall into this category, do not delay and start your paperwork immediately. The hard work of getting a degree should not go in vain.
