IIT Roorkee Scholarships: Opportunities for meritorious students The institute offers a variety of scholarships for economically weaker and talented students:
James Thomason Scholarship: It is given to those students whose All India Rank (AIR) is up to 300. It provides assistance of ₹25,000 per month (subject to maintaining minimum 8.00 CGPA).
Naveen & Anu Jain Scholarship: ₹1,000 per month (for 10 months) is given to B.Tech students with annual family income less than Rs 2 lakh.
MCM (Merit-cum-Means) Scholarship: It provides tuition fee waiver and pocket allowance.
Exclusive Scholarship: Special scholarships like ‘Air Commodore Shyam Chand Mehra’ and ‘Om Prakash Gupta Memorial’ are also available for girl students.
Fee Structure: The fee structure for B.Tech at IIT Roorkee is as follows:
Tuition Fees: Approximately ₹1 lakh per semester (total between ₹8 lakh to ₹10.7 lakh for 4 years).
Other Fees: Hostel and mess charges are around ₹49,000 per semester and one-time fees are around ₹14,000.
Note: SC/ST and Persons with Disabilities (PwD) students get full tuition fee exemption.
Eligibility for Admission:
JEE Main: The candidate must be among the top 2.5 lakh successful candidates of JEE Main 2026.
Class XII: It is mandatory to have at least 75% marks in class 12th (65% for SC/ST/PwD) or be in ‘top 20 percentile’ of your respective board.
JEE Advanced: Seat allotment on the basis of merit will be done through JoSAA counselling.
