News India Live, Digital Desk: We have often been hearing since childhood that “As you do, so do you.” And the stories of our Puranas prove that this rule applies not only to us humans but also to the gods. Today I will tell you one such interesting and a little surprising story – the story when myself Yamraj, god of death Had to suffer the punishment for one of his ‘mistakes’.

Do you know that one of the wisest characters of Mahabharata ‘Vidur’ Actually he was the incarnation of Yamraj? But the question is, why did Yamraj have to leave the throne of heaven and take birth on earth as a human being, that too as the son of a slave?

Rishi Mandavya and that terrible misunderstanding
This story is related Sage Mandavya From. Sage Mandavya was a very ascetic. Once he was sitting in deep meditation outside his hut. Then some thieves came running to escape from the king’s soldiers. He hid the stolen goods in Rishi’s hut and hid himself there.
When the king’s soldiers arrived, they found both the goods and the thief in the sage’s hut. The soldiers thought that this monk was the leader of thieves and was pretending. Without thinking the king told the sage Impale Gave the order.

Sage Mandavya, without committing any mistake, endured the unbearable pain of that prong (pointed iron rod). But due to his spiritual power he did not die. Later the king realized his mistake and apologized to the sage and freed him.

Heated debate in Yamraj’s court
But the story did not end here, rather the real game began now. After leaving his body, Rishi Mandavya went straight to Yamraj. Burning with anger he asked Yamraj (Dharamraj), “O Dharmaraj! What sin had I committed in my life, for which I had to pay the punishment by hanging on that sharp spike? Judge me.”

Yamraj opened his ledger and told, “Rishivar, when you were a small child (about 12 years old), while playing, you pricked a blade of dry grass in the tail of a small butterfly or insect. This was the result of that action.”

and got the curse
Hearing this, sage Mandavya’s temper rose. He said, “Such a big and terrible punishment for a mistake committed out of ignorance in childhood? The scriptures say that a child’s ignorance is not considered a sin. You, despite being the king of religion, could not understand the religion.”

In anger, sage Mandavya cursed Yamraj- “Go, you will have to be born on earth as a human being, and that too in the house of a ‘Shudra’ or a slave, so that you may know what the suffering of a common man is.”

Due to this curse, Yamraj gave birth to a maid from Hastinapur during the Mahabharata period. widower Born as. Being the incarnation of Yamraj, Vidur had immense knowledge and understanding of religion, and that is why ‘Vidur Niti’ is so famous even today.

So did you see? How precise is the cycle of karma. Even a mistake made in ignorance demands its own account, whether it is a human being or a god.
