The shooter was planning to escape to Canada via Nepal, mastermind Anil Pandit had prepared the escape route.

In the high-profile investigation of the deadly attack on Bollywood’s famous action star actor Tiger Shroff, the Crime Branch of Mumbai Police has exposed an internationally sensational conspiracy. According to the special investigation team of the police, the three attackers who committed the crime had hatched a well-planned conspiracy to cross the borders of India and flee to Canada through Nepal with the help of fake passports and forged documents immediately after the attack. The mastermind of this dreadful incident is said to be Anil Pandit, the active digital handler of the Lawrence Bishnoi Syndicate, who had promised the shooters a huge amount of money and safe settlement in Canada in exchange for the crime. Mumbai Crime Branch, on the basis of modern technical surveillance, footage from more than 550 CCTV cameras and precise location tracking, laid siege to Kota railway station in Rajasthan and arrested the three shooters.

According to information received from highly placed sources of Mumbai Police Crime Branch, the main conspirator Anil Pandit, sitting abroad, had assured the shooters that after the firing, they would not be allowed to be caught by the Indian security agencies under any circumstances. Pandit had prepared a special secret route for their escape. According to the fixed plan, after carrying out the crime, the attackers were to leave Mumbai and reach Jaipur in Rajasthan directly. By road from Jaipur, he had to board an ordinary bus and reach the country’s capital Delhi. From Delhi they were to enter Nepal illegally through the open borders of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. In Kathmandu, Nepal, fake passports and visas were already prepared for them on fake identity cards, through which they were given an unprecedented assurance of being transported directly to Canada on an international flight.

Several teams of Mumbai Police swung into action immediately after the incident, along with the Crime Branch, and started closely scanning the visuals of more than 550 CCTV cameras installed at the spot and all the nearby exit routes. During the investigation, the police found the real owner of the motorcycle which was used by the shooters during recce and firing. During interrogation, the bike owner handed over the mobile number of shooter Hrithik to the police. As soon as the technical surveillance cell started tracking that number, it came to light that Hrithik was using the same phone while running away. Hrithik had booked an online cab from the same mobile number for himself and his two other associates—Phool Singh and Rehaan—to get out of Mumbai safely. Based on GPS data and technical monitoring of the cab, the police came to know that the three accused reached Surat in Gujarat and from there boarded the Pune-Jaipur Superfast Express. Mumbai Police immediately contacted Rajasthan Police and as soon as the train stopped at Kota railway station, the joint team caught the three shooters.

According to senior investigating officers of Mumbai Police, the attackers had followed Tiger Shroff’s daily activities, fitness routine and shooting schedule for months. After scanning the weeks-old CCTV footage of the football ground in Juhu, Mumbai, the police have found irrefutable evidence of the suspected shooters doing recce around the ground. The investigators are now also investigating this aspect in depth whether apart from these shooters, any local informer or close person had passed confidential information about Tiger Shroff’s travel time, personal programs and public presence to the foreign handlers. Call detail records (CDR) of many contacts associated with the film industry and the actor’s staff are also being scrutinized so that the bottom of the internal collusion can be reached.

Forensic experts and the police team have recovered a total of five empty shells from the spot, which prove that five rounds were fired indiscriminately during the attack. Along with this, two live cartridges have also been recovered from the spot. Investigation revealed that when shooter Rehan tried to fire, his country-made pistol got jammed on the spot due to a technical fault, due to which two live bullets stuck in the chamber fell on the ground without firing. The police have also clarified that the accused Phool Singh, who was said to be a minor in the initial investigation, is a fully grown adult and it was he who had fired all the five bullets with the weapon in his hand.

After appearing in the local court of Kota, Mumbai Police got formal transit remand of the three accused. However, the security threat assessment conducted by security agencies on Monday expressed apprehension that the police convoy might be attacked or suspiciously monitored en route by rival gangs or other operatives of the Bishnoi syndicate. In view of this serious security concern, top officials of Mumbai Police and Rajasthan Police had immediately postponed the departure on Monday. Now, under tight guard of additional security forces equipped with state-of-the-art automatic weapons, the three accused are being brought to Mumbai under special security cover by road and rail on Tuesday, where they will be produced in the court for remand and interrogated on the financial contacts of the syndicate.
