The holy month of Kartik, full of fasts and festivals, is now towards its end. This month will end with Kartik Purnima and from the very next day i.e. 6th November 2025, another holy month will begin, which is named Margashirsha. Many people also know it by the name of ‘Agahan’.

Margashirsha month has a very special place in Hindu religion. This month is considered so auspicious that all the auspicious works which were stopped in Kartik like marriage, house warming etc. start again from this month. But its biggest specialty is related to the Tulsi plant present in the courtyard of all of us.

What is the connection between Margashirsha and Tulsi?

According to religious beliefs, Tulsi ji was born on the day of Kartik Purnima and the month of Margashirsha is very dear to him. Tulsi is not an ordinary plant, but is considered to be the form of Goddess Lakshmi herself. This is the reason why the benefits of worshiping Tulsi as per the rituals in the month of Margashirsha (Agahan) increases manifold.

1. Offer raw milk with water: In this month, not only offer water to Tulsi ji every morning, but also offer some raw milk. This remedy is considered very auspicious and fruitful.
2. Light a lamp of cow’s ghee in the evening: On every evening of Margashirsha, light a lamp of pure cow’s ghee near the Tulsi plant. It is believed that doing this destroys all the sorrows, pain and negativity in the house and increases happiness and prosperity in the house.
3. Offer Tulsi Manjari to Lord Satyanarayan: If you listen to the story or worship Lord Satyanarayan this month, then definitely offer Tulsi Manjari (Basil seeds) in the Prasad. This small solution always maintains blessings in the house.
