The Foreign Ministry of India has clarified its position on the “Strategic Recipient Defense” agreement between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. Under this agreement, an attack on any country would be considered an attack on both countries. Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal said that there is a close strategic partnership between India and Saudi Arabia, which has been strong in the last few years. He further said, “We hope that this partnership will continue to be stronger keeping in mind the mutual interests and sensitivity.”

India’s clear stand on terrorism and Pakistan

On the issue of Pakistan and terrorism, the Ministry of External Affairs strictly said that the world is well aware of the connivance between terrorists and the Pakistani government and the army. Jaiswal said, “We have to combat terrorism across the border. We appeal to the world that we should increase our efforts to fight terrorism.”

Progress in Indo-US trade talks

In connection with the ongoing trade talks between India and the US, the Ministry of External Affairs said on 16 September 2025, US trade representatives led by Assistant USTR Brendon Lynch held meetings with the Ministry of Commerce. Discussions were positive and visionary, in which focus on various aspects of the trade agreement. The two countries decided to intensify efforts to ensure mutually profitable trade agreement.

US ban on Chabahar port

Regarding the Chabahar port, the Ministry of External Affairs said that the US had seen a statement about withdrawing the relaxation given in the sanctions. The ministry clarified, “We are currently assessing its impacts on India.”

India’s support to the new government of Nepal

Regarding the formation of a new interim government in Nepal, the Ministry of External Affairs said that India welcomes the formation of this government under the leadership of Sushila Karki. Prime Minister Modi spoke to Prime Minister Karki on 18 September 2025 and assured India’s full cooperation in restoring peace and stability. Jaiswal said, “As a nearby neighbor and a democratic country, India is committed to work together for the development and prosperity of Nepal.”

Indian engineer murdered in California

In the case of the murder of an Indian engineer in California, USA, the Ministry of External Affairs has said that they are in touch with local authorities and the government. Jaiswal said, “The matter is under investigation and we are in touch with the family of the deceased.”
