The joints whose pain you are considering as ‘old age’, is it a sign of this dangerous disease?

Post

Is there a lot of pain in your joints nowadays? Especially when you wake up in the morning, do ankles, knees or fingers feel stiff? Often we ignore these minor problems as aging, more work or changes in weather.

But do you know that this ‘modest’ pain can be a sign of a silent killer growing in your body, which is named – Uric acid.

What is this uric acid?

Let us consider it in very easy language. When we eat and drink something, especially protein items, a kind of chemical waste is formed in our body, which is called uric acid. By the way, our wise kidneys filter this waste and remove it from the body.

But when this waste starts to become excessively in the body, or our kidneys are unable to get it out properly, then it starts accumulating in the blood. Later, this uric acid starts freezing in our joints by taking the form of small crystals (like glass pieces) and this is where all the trouble starts.

The hidden symptoms that are very important to know

Most people understand the meaning of uric acid only toe (called gout). But there are many such symptoms that do not pay attention to us:

  1. Pain, stiffness and swelling in joints: This pain is not limited to the toe just. It can also occur in your knees, elbows, wrists and fingers. Feeling warm in joints and pain even when touched is a major sign of this.
  2. Always feel tired: If you feel tired and dull at all times without any specific reason, it can also be a symptom of increased uric acid in the blood.
  3. Going to the bathroom again and again: When uric acid increases, the kidneys have to work hard to get it out, due to which you may get urinated more than normal.
  4. Skin rash or lumps: When uric acid increases too much, its crystals also start freezing under the skin, which can cause small lumps (called toffees) or rash on the skin.

How to protect against this problem?

The good news is that by making some small changes in your lifestyle, you can control this problem:

  • Water, water and just water! Drink at least 8-10 glasses of water a day. This will help in removing uric acid from your body.
  • Pay attention to your plate: Reduce the intake of red meat, sea-food, pulses, rajma, spinach and sweet things.
  • Keep weight under control: Increasing weight also feasts uric acid. Therefore, do some exercise or walk daily.

Remember, your body talks to you. Do not ignore these small signs. If you feel any of these symptoms, do not delay at all to consult a doctor. A simple blood test can remove all your confusion and save you from a big health problem.
