News India Live, Digital Desk: “Man, I can leave WhatsApp, but what will happen to years of chats and groups?” – This is a question that comes in the mind of every Indian who wants to leave WhatsApp because of its new privacy policy or for some other reason. Due to this compulsion, people are unable to switch to other messaging apps. But now a ‘Made in India’ solution to this problem has come.
Sridhar Vembu, founder and CEO of India’s leading tech company Zoho, has solved this problem with his messaging app. ‘Arattai’ I have given. ‘Aretai’, which means ‘gossip’ in Tamil, is not just another messaging app but is on its way to becoming a strong Indian alternative to WhatsApp. And its biggest strength is its ability to bring the legacy of WhatsApp with itself.
What is the ‘secret’ of saving old chats?
Sridhar Vembu himself has revealed that the biggest hesitation for users to leave WhatsApp is the fear of losing their old chats. Keeping this in mind, a special feature has been provided in ‘Aretai’, which allows you to easily import both your personal and group chats from WhatsApp to ‘Aretai’. This means you no longer need to make a fresh start on a new app; Your memories and important things will stay with you.
How to transfer WhatsApp chats to ‘Aretai’?
This process is very simple and you can do it yourself from within WhatsApp:
- Download ‘Aretai’ App: First of all, download ‘Arattai’ app from Google Play Store or App Store on your phone and create your account on it.
- Open WhatsApp: Now go to WhatsApp and open the chat or group you want to transfer.
- Go to ‘Export Chat’: Click on the three dots visible on the top right side of the chat. Then go to ‘More’ and select the option of ‘Export Chat’.
- Select media: Here WhatsApp will ask you whether you want to export the chat with media files (photos, videos) or without media. Choose the option as per your need.
- Select ‘Arattai’: After this, you will see a list of many apps for sharing. Select the ‘Arattai’ icon from this list.
- Import chats: The ‘Aretai’ app will open and ask you which contact or group you want to import this chat to. Select the correct contact and click on ‘Import’.
That’s it! Your old WhatsApp chats are now safe on your new desi app ‘Aretai’.
Why is ‘Aretai’ a better option?
‘Aretai’ not only provides the feature of chat transfer, but also has a special emphasis on privacy and data security.
- Completely ‘Made in India’: This app is made in India and all its data is stored on servers in India only.
- Privacy Promise: Zoho says that they do not use users’ data for advertisements.
- Special Features: It also has many unique features like ‘Pockets’ (to save important messages) and ‘Meetings’ (to schedule video meetings).
Sridhar Vembu aims to make ‘Aretai’ not just an app, but an open protocol like email and UPI, so that the arbitrariness of any one company can be eliminated.
