The biggest challenge after floods in Punjab, is your children’s schools safe?:

News India Live, Digital Desk: Punjab Education Department: After a long wait of about 12-15 days, today the children’s blossom echoed again in most government schools of Punjab. The schools running since August 27 due to disastrous floods have been reopened to students from today, i.e. 9 September. However, the situation in many districts facing floods is still not normal, due to which the schools there have been closed till further orders.

Teachers handled the front a day before

A day before the arrival of the students, i.e. on Monday, teachers and staff reached all schools. According to the government’s instructions, he reviewed the safety of school buildings, cleaned the classrooms and ensured that the schools were completely safe for children. Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains has also launched a statewide campaign called “Come, Clean your village school”, in which he has also appealed to the common people to help in cleaning schools.

Where and where the schools will still be closed?

The government has clarified that schools will not be opened in areas where flood water is still filled or where school buildings have been damaged. The local district commissioner (DC) is taking its final decision.

• Fazilka and Ferozepur: About 30-36 schools in these districts are still submerged in water, so they will remain closed till further orders.
• Amritsar: The schools of Ajnala and Lopoke divisions will remain closed till September 12.
• Gurdaspur and Pathankot: Holidays will continue in 61 schools in Gurdaspur and 29 in Pathankot.
• Sangrur: About 50 schools are closed here. Out of these, 24 schools have been damaged, while the rest are closed due to the rising water level of Ghaggar river.

Private schools have also been instructed to call the students only after ensuring the safety of their buildings. The 30 -year -old flood in the state has affected around 20,000 government schools. The government and administration are now engaged in ensuring that the education of children can return to track as soon as possible in a safe environment.
