News India Live, Digital Desk: Bihar’s ruling party Janata Dal United (JDU) has opened a front against its own MP Girdhari Yadav. Accusing Banka MP Girdhari Yadav of being involved in ‘anti-party activities’, JDU parliamentary party leader Dileshwar Kamait has submitted a formal notice to the Lok Sabha Speaker to terminate his membership. After this move, there has been a stir in the political circles of Bihar and speculations are being made that Girdhari Yadav’s MP may go away at any time.
Statement on son’s rebellion and EVM became a pain in the neck MP Girdhari Yadav had been an eyesore of his own party for a long time. The controversy started when his son Chanakya Prakash contested the assembly elections on RJD ticket against his father’s party (JDU). It is alleged that Girdhari Yadav helped his son from behind the scenes. Apart from this, in July 2025, he had given a controversial statement in a public forum regarding EVMs, which was completely contrary to the official policy of JDU. The party had also issued a show cause notice to him terming it as ‘indiscipline’.
“I will answer to the Lok Sabha Speaker” – Girdhari Yadav Amidst the looming threat to his membership, Girdhari Yadav has also broken his silence. Speaking to the media, he said, “I don’t know what Dileshwar Kamait has said, but I have no record of any anti-party activity. If the Lok Sabha Speaker questions me, I will make my stand clear to him.” Girdhari Yadav also made it clear that it is democratically wrong to hold his son responsible for his independent decisions.
Case under Anti-Defection Law Political experts believe that JDU has taken this step very thoughtfully. If it is proved that Girdhari Yadav has voluntarily left his party’s ideology or has worked against the party, his membership can be canceled under the Tenth Schedule of the Constitution. JDU claims that they have strong evidence against the MP, including evidence of secret campaigning done by him in favor of the opposition alliance (INDIA).
‘Clean sweep’ campaign after Nitish Kumar becomes president again Recently, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has been elected unopposed as the national president of JDU. Immediately after becoming the president, tough decisions are being taken regarding discipline within the party. This action taken against Girdhari Yadav is a message that there is no place for those who rebel while staying in the party. Now all eyes are on the decision of the Lok Sabha Speaker, who will take the final decision in this high-profile matter.
