The case is of an IPS officer, who is currently DIG of Basti Range and a 70 year old senior citizen. Court DIG Sanjeev Tyagi Strict orders have been given that they will have to give their voice sample.

What was that ‘Bijnor Audio’ scandal of 2020?
The story is from April 2020. The fear of Corona was widespread in the country. At that time Sanjeev Tyagi was posted as SP in Bijnor. An audio recording spread like wildfire on social media. In this clip, someone was using extremely objectionable, inflammatory and abusive language (Communal Slur) against the people of Tablighi Jamaat and a particular community.
The rumor was that this voice belonged to the then SP of Bijnor, Sanjeev Tyagi.

The real twist of this story comes here. An elderly social worker from Bijnor, Islammuddin AnsariWhen this clip reached , he thought of verifying it. He sent that audio to the official (CUG) number of SP Sanjeev Tyagi and asked very politely, Sir, people are saying on social media that this is your voice. “Is it really you?”
By law a police officer should have given a “yes” or “no” answer or investigated. But the opposite happened. On the contrary, the police lodged an FIR against Ansari Saheb! Allegations were made that this elderly person was spreading hatred in the society, disturbing peace and violating the IT Act.
Imagine, the one who asked the question was made a criminal so that no one else could open his mouth.
Supreme Court puts a stop to police ‘bullying’
When this case reached the Supreme Court, the judges (Justice Ahsanuddin Amanullah and Justice Vinod Chandran) held their heads after seeing the police file. The court strongly reprimanded the police.
The Supreme Court said – “What is this joke? A citizen had just asked you for clarification whether it was your voice. You filed a case against him? This is a blatant abuse of power.”
Major decisions of the court:
- FIR cancelled: The court immediately dismissed (Quash) all the cases filed against elderly Islamuddin Ansari.
- DIG’s appearance: The court saw black in the pulse, so it ordered that DIG Sanjeev Tyagi will have to give a sample of his voice.
Testing will be done in Hyderabad lab, not in UP!
This is the most important part. The Supreme Court probably knew that the investigation in UP could be affected. Therefore, it has been ordered that DIG Saheb Forensic Lab (CSFL) of Telangana (Hyderabad) You will have to go and give your voice sample.
- This process will be completed in the next 3 weeks.
- Forensic experts will match whether the voice of that viral clip of 2020 and the voice of the DIG is the same or not.
