Kathmandu/Birganj: A sudden stone pelting occurred during the Hanuman Jayanti procession on Saturday in Birganj city of Nepal, causing the situation to become very tense in the city. After this incident, the Nepali administration has imposed curfew in the entire Birganj city and police and security forces immediately deployed strict security in the city.
According to the information received, some unknown people threw stones at a madrasa roof when a procession was passing through Choppia area of Birganj city. About a dozen policemen and devotees involved in the procession were injured in the sudden attack. After this incident, there was chaos and tension in the area.

Birganj city and its surrounding areas have been converted into police cantonment and the police are patrolling various places.

Traffic at Raxaul Gate on the Indo-Nepal border has been completely stopped. Nepal Armed Forces have been deployed here near Shankaracharya Gate. Raxaul Sub -Divisional Officer (SDO) Shivakshi Dixit herself is closely monitoring the situation. Citizens have been banned from crossing border.
