The Indian stock market closed in the green zone today i.e. Wednesday, August 14. The market opened with a gain of 109 points in the morning. The Sensex closed at 79,065, up 150 points. While the Nifty saw a gain of only 4 points. The Nifty also closed at 24,143. Out of the 50 stocks of Nifty, 24 rose and 26 fell. Out of the 30 stocks of Sensex, 16 rose and 14 fell.
Market cap decreased
While Sensex-Nifty rose in today's trade, market cap declined due to decline in other sectors and midcap smallcap. The market cap of shares listed on BSE fell by Rs. 72,000 crore to Rs. 72,000 crore. The closing price was Rs. 444.58 lakh crore.

Yesterday, on August 13, the stock market witnessed a decline. The Sensex closed down 692 points at 78,956. The Nifty also recorded a decline of 208 points. It closed at 24,139.
Bank, oil & gas and metal stocks declined further. While consumer durables rose by 1.30%. Out of 50 stocks on Nifty, 12 stocks rose and 38 stocks declined. Out of 30 stocks on Sensex, 24 stocks declined.
