News India Live, Digital Desk: Australian team announced: Australia has declared its ODI and T20 teams for the upcoming white-ball series against the Indian team. This series will start from October 19 this month. Veteran fast bowler Mitchell Starc has returned to the team, which will give a tough challenge to India’s legendary batsmen Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. T20 captain Mich Marsh will lead the team in both formats.
The selectors revealed the team for three ODIs and the first two T20 Internationals on Tuesday (October 7, 2025). Stark retired from T20 International last month, but now he is returning to the ODI team. He could not play in the series against South Africa in August, as he was rested under the Workload Management after the West Indies Test Tour to be ready for the Ashes.
The ODI team also includes Matt Short, Matthew Ranshaw and Mitchell Owen along with Stark. Marnas Labushen has been dropped from the ODI team due to poor form. Ranshaw, who had not played any ODI match since 2022, has managed to make it to the team after a brilliant performance for domestic 50 -over and Australia ‘A’. Mitchell Owen and Matthew Short have also returned to the team after recovering from injury, who recently performed well in the T20 series against New Zealand.
Josh English and Nathan Alice have also returned for the T20 series. The English has been cured by the injury to the calf, while Ellis has returned after the birth of her first child. However, star all -rounder Glenn Maxwells are still suffering from a wrist injury and are not available for the first two T20 international matches. Australia has announced the team for the first two T20 matches, the team will be announced later for the remaining matches, so that the workload of multi-format players can be managed.
This series is an important part of Australia’s preparation for next year’s T20 World Cup. George Bailey, chairman of the selection committee, said that this decision is an attempt to balance the upcoming T20 World Cup preparations and the management of the players for the domestic red-ball season.
