News India Live, Digital Desk: The weather of the country has once again changed its course. In the middle of April, the scorching heat of the sun has started making people miserable, while the movement of clouds in some states has raised hopes of relief. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a nationwide weather bulletin for today i.e. April 17. According to the Meteorological Department, while there is an orange alert of ‘heatwave’ in the states of North and Central India, there is a possibility of rain with thunder in South and North-East India.

Heat wave in Delhi-UP, mercury crosses 40

The heat in the national capital Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Rajasthan is now on its way to breaking records. According to the Meteorological Department, today the maximum temperature of Delhi can reach 41 degrees Celsius. There has been a warning of heat wave in cities like Jhansi, Prayagraj and Agra of Uttar Pradesh. The gusts of hot winds in the afternoon are forcing people to remain confined to their homes. At present, there is no possibility of any major relief in these areas for the next three to four days.

There will be rain in these states, there will be relief

On one hand, while North India is scorching, due to the influence of Western Disturbance, the weather will remain pleasant in the hilly states and some parts of South India. There is a possibility of light snowfall in the higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand and drizzle in the lower areas. Apart from this, an alert of rain with strong winds has been issued in the coastal areas of Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. A warning of heavy rain has also been issued in Assam and Meghalaya of North-East India today.

Sultry heat alert in Bihar and Bengal

In the areas of Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal, the humid heat due to increase in temperature as well as humidity has increased the problems of the people. Meteorologists say that due to the moist winds coming from the Bay of Bengal, the ‘discomfort index’ will be very high in these states. However, a slight drop in temperature may be recorded due to dust storm at some places in the evening, but the day time is going to be quite miserable.

Health Department’s advice: Be careful

In view of the increasing heat and danger of heatstroke, the Health Department has issued an advisory. People have been advised to avoid direct exposure to sunlight between 12 noon and 4 pm. Wear cotton clothes when stepping out of the house and consume enough water, ORS or fluids to keep yourself hydrated. Special care needs to be taken especially of children and the elderly, because rising temperature can cause heat stroke.
