The problem of piracy is increasing in the Indian Ocean. The Indian Navy has also deployed its ships for patrolling against this.

According to the information, Bangladeshi ship MV Abdullah going from Mozambique to UAE has been hijacked by pirates. About 58000 tons of coal is loaded on the ship. The ship has been hijacked by Somali pirates and this incident took place 600 kilometers away from Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia.

The ship belongs to a Bangladeshi company and according to media reports, there are 23 crew members on board. The crew members remain safe in the cabin of the ship. Whereas the rest of the ship has been captured by pirates.

According to Anam Chaudhary, president of Bangladesh Merchant Marine Officers Association, the crew members sent a WhatsApp message for help and said that pirates with heavy weapons and ammunition have boarded the ship and we are locked in the cabin.

Meanwhile, an Indian Navy ship on patrol responded to the message. An attempt was also made to contact the crew members on 12 March to ascertain the position of the ship. However, there was no response.

The current status of the ship is unclear but it is believed to be in the possession of pirates. The search for the ship continues.
