The board has decided to give students three golden opportunities to pass by making the rules of compartment examination more flexible. First chance will be available in May 2026: Improve score in time
As per the new rules, CBSE will provide ‘First Compartment Opportunity’ immediately after the declaration of 10th Main exam result. This will benefit the students in that they will be able to correct their mistakes immediately and take admission in class XI without any delay. The board has also directed schools to identify such students and provide them special guidance.
No need to accept defeat, you will get a chance in August and next year also

Despite this, if the student is not successful, he third and last chance It will be given along with the main board examination of the next year i.e. 2027. With the provision of these three opportunities, students will not be forced to repeat the same subject again and again for the entire year.

CBSE has clarified that this rule will apply not only to compulsory subjects but also to skill subjects. Apart from this, under the new National Education Policy (NEP) the board is now also considering ‘credit’ transfer of students. This means that if a student fails in any one or two subjects, he can complete his marksheet by appearing in the examination of only those subjects. This is expected to be of great help in reducing the dropout rate.

For compartment examination, students have to apply on ‘Pariksha Sangam’ portal through their respective schools. The board has given strict instructions to the schools not to leave out the data of any student while submitting the LOC (List of Candidates). Students are advised to continue their preparation and keep an eye on the official website so that they do not miss the application deadline.
