Shubhanshu Shukla’s space journey: Will the obstacles end?

Indian aerospace engineer Shubhanshu Shukla’s dream of space travel is once again stuck. His historic Exiom-4 (Axiom-4) Space Mission, in which he was earlier to be included as an Indian private astronaut, has been deferred once again due to a technical fault in the ‘Falcon 9’ rocket. The mission was to be launched from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

According to sources, an attempt was being made to launch this mission on January 24 this year, but the Falcon 9 rocket’s ‘super-cooled’ liquid oxygen’s fuel line was detected. This leak was a major concern and the launch was immediately canceled in view of security. The new launch date has not been announced yet, so Shubhanshu and his team will have to wait again.

Shubhanshu Shukla has pledged to send Indian private astronauts into space through ‘Space Zero’ of ‘Aerospace India’. He is also associated with India’s Human Spaceflight Program. His dream of becoming an astronaut has long been and this is the second time that this has a significant obstacle in the ‘Exiom-4’ mission. It was earlier to be launched in November 2024, but then postponed till January 2025, and now the attempt of January 2025 also failed.

The Ex-4 mission is headed by an experienced astronaut Pegi Whitson, and she is accompanied by Wall Street co-founder and businessman Walter Willandi and another unknown Saudi Arabia astronaut. The Exiom-4 mission aims to reach the International Space Station (ISS) through ‘Dragon Capsule’ riding on the ‘Falcon 9’ rocket. The company sends ISS to commercial astronauts in collaboration with Exiom Space NASA and has already completed three successful missions-X-1, X-2, and X-3.

This is quite disappointing for Shubhanshu, as he has had to wait for his space trip several times. This is the second consecutive or third time the launch has been canceled, but their courage and perseverance still persist. The whole world and India are hoping that their dream will be fulfilled soon and they will be able to touch the heights of space.
