“She went to the teacher 5 times, but no one listened…” Recognition of Neerja Modi School of Jaipur canceled, the truth of the death of a girl

That dark day of 1st November in the famous Neerja Modi School of Jaipur, when an innocent girl studying in class four committed suicide by jumping from the fourth floor of the school. This painful incident shocked the entire country. Now, CBSE’s hammer has come down on this matter and a decision has come which is a big warning for every school.

CBSE has canceled the recognition of Neerja Modi School with immediate effect.

The board’s investigation has revealed such shocking and heart-wrenching revelations that the question arises whether schools are now safe for children?

‘Insensitive’ face of school revealed in investigation

The CBSE report has highlighted serious negligence on the part of the school administration, which is directly responsible for the girl’s death:

  • Those 45 minutes before her death: Just before ending her life, the innocent girl went to her class teacher 5 times for help, but the teacher did not listen to her and completely ignored her plight.
  • The disgusting game of bullying: The girl was being harassed by some boys in her class for a long time. She had written something on a digital slate which made her extremely embarrassed and upset. In the CCTV footage, she is clearly seen pleading the boys to eliminate her.
  • When even the parents were not listened to: The girl’s parents had complained about bullying to the school in July 2024 itself. In the parent-teacher meeting of September 2025, the father had seen with his own eyes a boy harassing his daughter. But instead of taking action, the teacher advised her that ‘the child should learn to adjust’.

Why did CBSE take such a big step?

CBSE has clearly stated in its report that Neerja Modi School has completely failed in providing a safe environment to the children. There was no system in the school to listen to complaints and counsel the children. The board said, “The school is supposed to be a ‘safe haven’ for children, but this school has grossly violated the rules.”

What will happen to the children studying in school now?

CBSE canceled the recognition, but also took care of the future of the existing children:

  • Students of class 10th and 12th: Students who are currently in class 10th and 12th will be able to appear for their board exams from this school in this year i.e. 2025-26.
  • 9th and 11th students: Students who are currently in 9th and 11th will be shifted to other nearby CBSE schools for the next session.
  • No new admission: The school will now not be able to take any new admission in any class.

This decision is not just against one school, but is a lesson for every school which does not take the mental and physical safety of children seriously.
