News India Live, Digital Desk: As the mercury is crossing 40 degrees, the condition of humans as well as plants is deteriorating. The king of flowers ‘Rose’ is extremely sensitive to heat; In strong sunlight its leaves start burning and flowers stop blooming. But there is no need to panic! In the latest report of Zee News, some such easy and effective tricks have been mentioned, by adopting which you can keep your rose plant green and full of flowers even in the hot afternoon.

1. ‘Mulching’ is the biggest weapon

The soil in the pot dries up very quickly in summer. To avoid this, take help of ‘Mulching’. Spread dry leaves, grass or wood sawdust on the upper surface of the soil of the pot. It acts like a protective shield, which does not allow direct rays of the sun to reach the soil and retains moisture for a long time.

2. Magical effect of tea leaves

Rose plant likes acidic soil. Wash the used tea leaves thoroughly, dry them and mix one spoonful of them in the soil twice a month. It is an excellent source of nitrogen, which prevents plant growth from stopping in summer and helps in the emergence of new flowers.

3. Right time and method of watering

Never water roses in the afternoon in summer. The best time to water is before 7 am or in the evening after sunset. Do not water only the roots, but also spray the leaves and twigs with a spray bottle. This keeps the temperature of the plant low and protects it from ‘heat stress’.

4. Green net and right location

If your rose is placed directly on the roof, shift it under the ‘green net’. Rose needs 5-6 hours of sunlight, but direct sunlight from 12 to 4 pm can scorch it. Try to keep it in a place where it gets sunlight in the morning and shade in the afternoon.

5. Banana peel fertilizer

Banana peels are rich in potassium, which improves the size and color of flowers. Make powder of dried peels or soak the peels in water for 2 days and add that water to the plant. Keep in mind, avoid giving too much heavy chemical fertilizer in summer, because it can burn the roots of the plant.
