The journey of IPL 2026, the world’s most exciting and popular cricket league, is now completely over. In the explosive final match played on the evening of 31 May, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), captained by Rajat Patidar, created history by defeating Gujarat Titans (GT) by 5 wickets. With this spectacular victory, RCB has won the glittering IPL trophy for the second consecutive year.
Cricket fans remember well that there was a time when RCB could not win a single trophy for 17 consecutive seasons and was trolled a lot on social media. But with the arrival of captain Rajat Patidar, the fortunes and style of play of this team completely changed. Throughout this season, the Bengaluru team maintained its dominance from the beginning till the end. The team first topped the points table, then won Qualifier-1 and defeated Gujarat in the final in a one-sided match. In the final match, Gujarat Titans, batting first, had set a target of 156 runs, which RCB easily achieved by losing 5 wickets in 18 overs on the basis of Virat Kohli’s masterclass innings of 75 runs in 42 balls.
Historic performance of 15 year old ‘wonder kid’ Vaibhav Suryavanshi
Even though the title win went to RCB, but in terms of individual awards, this entire season was in the name of Rajasthan Royals’ 15-year-old young batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi. Vaibhav, with his explosive batting, destroyed the great bowlers from all over the world this year.
At the age of just 15, Vaibhav Suryavanshi scored a total of 776 runs in this season, with which he has become the youngest ‘Orange Cap’ winner in IPL history. Not only this, Vaibhav showed no mercy to the bowlers and hit the maximum number of 72 sixes in the entire tournament, for which he received the ‘Super Six Award’. This season, on the basis of his talent, Vaibhav single-handedly won a total of 5 major awards including ‘Most Valuable Player’ (MVP) and ‘Emerging Player’.
