KVS is soon going to open the online registration portal for Class 1 admission for the academic session 2026-27. Like every year, this time too lakhs of parents will apply for admission of their children, in such a situation only correct information and timely preparation will prove helpful in getting admission for your child.

Online Registration: One small mistake and the form can be canceled

As soon as the admission process starts, you have to visit the official portal of KVS kvsonlineadmission.kvs.gov.in. Here parents are advised to take a special precaution: make only one application for one child. If you fill more than one form from different mobile numbers or emails, the department will cancel all your previous applications and only the last form will be considered valid.

It is most important to understand the ‘mathematics of age’ for admission.

Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) has made strict rules regarding the age limit for admission in class 1. Age will be calculated as on 31st March 2026:

Minimum Age: The child must be at least 6 years of age.

Maximum Age: Age should not be more than 8 years.

Special Concession: Children whose birthday falls on April 1 are also considered eligible under the special rules of the department within the March 31 deadline.

Step-by-Step Online Process for Admission

The entire admission process has been made digital so that you can easily apply from the comfort of your home:

Registration: Visit the official website and fill the basic information and get your ‘Unique Login Code’.

Login and Form: Login using the code received. Fill the complete details of the child and parents here.

School Selection: You can select maximum 3 schools based on your preference.

Documents Upload: Upload child’s photograph and birth certificate (JPEG/PDF format).

Submit and Code: After submitting the form, take a printout of the ‘Application Submission Code’.

To avoid last minute panic, keep these documents handy now:

Original Birth Certificate of the child.

Residence certificate (like Aadhar card, electricity bill or rent agreement).

Category certificate (SC/ST/OBC/BPL), if applicable.

Service certificate of parents (for preference for government employees).

Who gets priority in admission?

Admissions in Kendriya Vidyalayas are based on ‘category’ system. First priority is given to the children of employees working in Defence, Railways and Central Services. After this, children of state government employees and then children of ordinary citizens under RTE (Right to Education) and SGC (Single Girl Child) quota are selected.
