Protests in 27 provinces of Iran, 29 people died in firing by security forces

Tehran (Iran), January 06: At least 29 civilians were killed and more than 1200 people were arrested during nine days of continuous protests in Iran. People have come out openly against the country’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. The movement against inflation has shaken Khamenei’s throne. The flames of unrest have reached the holy city of Qom. Flames of unrest are rising in at least 257 places in 88 cities of 27 provinces of the country. According to agency details released on Monday, seven protesters were confirmed dead in the last 24 hours. These people were killed in firing by security forces in Ajna, Marvdasht and Korweh. 29 people including two security forces personnel are involved in the clashes. At least 64 protesters have also been injured during this period. According to the report, students have also come out in support of the movement. Protests have also taken place in 17 universities. At least 1,203 protesters have been arrested so far. Mass arrests have been made in Bojnord, Qazvin, Isfahan, Tehran and Babol. Internet has been limited in the country. There have been security restrictions and limited access to independent sources. Iran’s Foreign Ministry on Monday accused America and Israel of interfering in Iran’s internal affairs and inciting violence. According to the report of Iran’s Mehr News Agency, the head of the country’s judiciary Gholamhossein Mohseni said on Monday that people should be patient in times of unrest. The Islamic system will give misguided people a chance to give up violence. He said that peace loving people should distance themselves from the rioters. He said the concerns of protesters and critics would be heard. The judiciary chief said that the rioters will be dealt with strictly. The Iranian judiciary chief said he has instructed the attorney general and prosecutors across the country to take action against the rioters and those supporting them in accordance with the law and with determination.
