Practice to retrieve 150 year old shipwrecked treasure

Exactly 150 years ago today, the wreck of the SS Pacific, along with its treasures, will be brought to the surface for the first time. The value of the treasure loaded on the ship has been estimated to be around 80 lakh dollars (about Rs 66.32 crore). In 1875, the ship disappeared in the waves while en route from British Columbia to the US state of San Francisco. The ship was loaded with gold and other valuables.

SS Pacific wreck expert Jeff Hammel is said to have acquired the rights to the wreck with the Rockfish Expedition Committee in 2002. A court in Seattle gave them the right to claim the wreck, but also said that if a person could prove a family connection to the owner of the treasure, they could also claim it. Rockfish General Manager Ethan Benson said that last year we talked to Original Cargo. Seven weeks ago we negotiated an agreement to cover the insured portion of the cargo.

Different estimates on the amount of gold

The Rockfish Campaign Committee says there is currently one contender. We don't think they have any legitimate claim, but we are in talks with them. There are varying estimates as to the amount of gold that sank with the ship. Other accessories include jewelery made from other metals. Work to remove shipwrecks using underwater vehicles will begin this year.

300 people took water samadhi

The 300 people aboard the ship included some of the wealthy men and gold miners of the Pacific Northwest. Everyone died due to drowning. No human remains were found at the wreck site. Researchers believe that it is difficult to find human remains in the depth of water and strong currents after so many years.
