The Special Surveillance Unit (SVU) has achieved a major success in the ongoing campaign against corruption in Bihar. A very influential contractor and alleged ‘tender mafia’ named Rushu Shree from Patna has been arrested late night by SVU after interrogation.
This major action has been taken after an 11-hour marathon raid on Rishu Shree’s hideouts on Wednesday. SVU ADG Pankaj Darad has officially confirmed the arrest of Rishu Shri. The accused can be produced in the court today itself and sent to jail, after which the investigating agency will take him on remand and interrogate him further.
Kuber’s treasure: gold, cash and 61 sale deeds found in 11-hour raid
On Wednesday, the team of Special Surveillance Unit had raided the residential complex (flat) of Rishu Shri in Mithapur, Patna. The things recovered during this period surprised even the officials:
-
Gold worth 2 crores: Gold and silver ornaments and jewelery worth about Rs 2 crore were recovered from the house.
-
2.5 lakh cash: Cash worth Rs 2.50 lakh was also seized in the raid.
-
61 Property Documents: The most surprising thing is that ‘sale deeds’ (registry papers) of 61 different lands and properties have been recovered from Rishu’s hideout.
SVU has now started legal preparations to attach (seize) Rishu Shree’s benami property worth approximately Rs 68 crore.
That ‘black game’ of 9% commission and connection with IAS officers
According to the investigating agency, Rishu Shri was running a syndicate of illegally managing government tenders in many big government departments of Bihar like BUIDCO, Urban Development Department and Building Construction Department.
-
9 percent racket: This entire racket of Rishu Shree worked on a fixed commission of 9 percent. He used to manipulate government tenders in connivance with influential officials, causing huge loss to the government revenue.
-
Foreign trips of officers: The investigation has also revealed that in return for managing the tenders, Rishu Shree not only provided undue benefits worth crores to the corrupt officials, but also sponsored and managed expensive foreign trips for them.
-
Many big officers came on the radar: The strings of this case seem to be connected to many influential IAS officers of Bihar. If sources are to be believed, at present two famous IAS officers of 2014 and 2017 batch and many other officers are on the radar of the investigating agency.
There was panic in the contracting department
After the arrest of Rishu Shri and the revelation of his nexus with the bureaucracy, there has been a stir in the contracting department and administrative corridors of Bihar. SVU officials believe that the tough interrogation of Rishu Shri during remand may reveal the names of many other white-collared and big officials, due to which some more big arrests are possible in the coming days.
