Patna Bungalow Battle: Rabri Devi Issues Challenge to Security Forces Patna Bungalow Battle Rabri Devi issues challenge to security forces

In the politics of Bihar, the government bungalow located at 10 Circular Road in the capital Patna has become the center of the biggest political storm. The ongoing dispute between former Chief Minister Rabri Devi and the state government regarding vacating the house has now turned into a bitter confrontation. After the ‘final notice’ given by the building construction department, the attitude of both the parties has become sharp.

Rabri Devi’s aggressive stance: “Send forces and evacuate”

After the government notice on this matter on Friday, Rabri Devi reacted in a very aggressive manner on Saturday. Challenging Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary (as per the referenced statement), Rabri Devi made it clear that she will not vacate the bungalow under any circumstances. He said angrily, “The new Chief Minister is a banal isn’t he… send forces to vacate my residence, we will not vacate the bungalow at any cost.” His statement has created a stir in the politics of Bihar.

Vijay Kumar Chaudhary’s clear message: “No VIP treatment”

In response to this sharp challenge, Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary expressed the government’s side in very strong and clear words. He clarified that the administration and government work completely within the framework of constitutional rules. The Deputy Chief Minister said:

  • Law is equal for all: He bluntly said that the law of the state is not big or small for anyone, it is the same for everyone.

  • No VIP tardiness: Chaudhary made it clear that no special concession will be given to any leader in this matter. Adherence to the rules related to housing allotment will be ensured under all circumstances.

‘RJD’ has occupied the bungalow for 19 years

Rabri Devi has been living in this VVIP bungalow located at 10 Circular Road since 2005. This bungalow has not only been his residence but has also been a major center of RJD politics for the last two decades. Under the new allocation policy of the state government, this bungalow has now been allotted to the current Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Resources Minister Nandkishore Ram, after which the controversy has deepened.

What is the way forward?

On one hand Rabri Devi says that she will not leave the bungalow, while on the other hand the government is adamant on implementing the allotment process citing the law. There is intense discussion in political circles whether this matter will go to court or it will be resolved through administrative intervention. RJD has made preparations to open a front against the government on this issue, from the streets to the House.
