Mirzapur, 30 November (Hindustan Reporter). Parcel booking service is going to start soon at Mirzapur Railway Station. Due to this service being closed for a long time, the 200 year old brass utensils industry of the district was suffering huge losses. This industry is selected under the One District-One Product scheme and provides direct and indirect employment to 25,000 people.
Traders and Mirzapur Metal Manufacturers Association had demanded Union Minister of State Anupriya Patel to restore the parcel service. After this, Prayagraj Divisional Officer KG Goswami gave approval to restart this service. Now internal and external parcel traffic from the station will be smooth again.
Mirzapur’s brass utensils, which are famous across the country with GI tag, are sent to different states through train. After the resumption of parcel service, traders heaved a sigh of relief and called it a big step towards the expansion of the industry. After the efforts of the Railway Ministry and the local administration, this decision is expected to provide new energy to the brass industry.
